Gorge-ous Views at Hannahatchee

We couldn't wait to get away with our friends Jerry and Angie again, so, off to Hannahatchee we went.  A dirt path just off Hwy. 27 in Stewart County, GA, leads to a relative's private preserve. Perfectly situated for some adventure.

A breathtaking view across the Georgia badlands.  Erosion took a toll on this land, resulting in deep gorges. Georgia's Providence Canyon is located just a few miles from where we camped. So different from the flat land where we live.

A short drive to Columbus Saturday morning with bikes in tow put us on the Chattahoochee RiverWalk.  We cycled along the river and found ourselves in the midst of a DragonBoat tournament. Fun!

Back at the preserve, we ventured around the property on the Gator.  Climbing and descending rugged hills through dense forest, limbs slapping us, the girls giggling and gasping along the way.  Fortunately, all's well that ends well, since Angie and I feared we might have to walk back to camp when the Gator threatened to succumb to a nearly vertical climb.

We ended our day with a colorful sunset disappearing behind the tree line while we roasted bacon-wrapped cabbage quarters over a makeshift charcoal grill/campfire ring. Delicious!
